Sahar S. Hakakian
Sahar S. Hakakian is an associate at Neiger LLP. Sahar’s practice includes representing debtors, debtor fiduciaries, as well as secured and unsecured creditors in a wide array of bankruptcy litigation and insolvency matters, including prosecuting and defending avoidance actions and pursuing and resolving creditors’ rights and claims in chapter 7 and chapter 11 proceedings.
Prior to joining Neiger LLP, Sahar practiced as a corporate restructuring and bankruptcy attorney at Sidley Austin LLP, a major international law firm. At Sidley Austin LLP, Sahar worked on behalf of debtors, bondholders, secured and unsecured creditors in high-profile complex chapter 11 cases, including Lehman Brothers, General Motors, Washington Mutual, and Fortunoff Holdings, LLC.
Sahar is actively involved in inMotion, Inc., a non-profit organization offering pro bono legal services to low income women, and served on its events committee. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
Sahar is admitted to practice law in the States of New York and California, and the United States District Courts for the Southern District of New York and Eastern District of New York.
Sahar graduated from Cornell University in 2004 (B.A. Government and French) and Fordham Law School in 2008 (J.D.). She also obtained an international diploma from L’Institut D’Etudes Politiques in Paris, France. At Fordham Law School, Sahar was a member of the Dean’s List and served on the Fordham Urban Law Journal. Sahar is fluent in French and Farsi.
